Choosing your seat

Upper or lower? Find your berth.

A practical way to read a sleeper layout, check the deck and choose a berth that suits your journey.

01

Start with the layout, not the colour

Check the deck, berth number and position of the aisle. A rectangle represents a sleeper berth; a seat has a different shape. Layouts vary by bus, so use the map for the departure you are actually booking.

02

Think about getting in and out

An upper berth involves climbing. A lower berth may suit you better if you expect to get up often or would rather avoid the climb. Look at the berth beside yours too, especially when travelling with someone.

03

Read what each marker means

A window marker describes the berth's position. A gender marker can describe an adjacent passenger or a booking restriction, depending on the operator. Read the seat's description before choosing; a coloured outline alone does not tell the whole story.

04

Check before confirming

Match every selected berth to a traveller. Review names, ages, boarding point and the final total. Availability can change while you are deciding, so the booking must be confirmed before you treat a berth as yours.
