General
What is BusPlease?
BusPlease is where you book intercity buses from the operators who list their buses on it. The operator runs the bus and BusPlease is where you book it. It is in preview: it is not selling real tickets yet, and no payment is taken.
What is a North Star bus?
North Star is the badge a bus service earns on BusPlease when its last 90 days meet a public standard: highly rated by passengers, leaving on time by its own tracker, on the live link, rarely cancelled, driven with care and with the essentials on board. It is recalculated through the day and cannot be bought.
The North Star standardDo I need an app or an account?
No. You search and book on the website, and you find a booking again with its PNR and the mobile number you booked with. There is no login.
Which cities can I search?
The search lists only cities where a listed operator has buses. If a city is not in the list, no operator on BusPlease runs a bus from it yet.
Search busesCan I see which seats only a woman can book?
Yes. A free seat next to a woman who has already booked can be booked only by a woman on that part of the route, and it is marked on the seat map. Switch on "Travelling as a woman" when you search and those seats stand out, and when a route has enough buses to filter you can show only buses with a free seat next to a woman.
What is a demo trip?
Trips from Demo Transports, a demo operator, show how booking and the live link work. A demo booking is not a ticket, no bus will be waiting, and its live link plays a replay of the timetable, not a real bus.

How do I find my booking?
Open Bookings and enter the PNR and the mobile number you booked with. A PNR on its own never opens a ticket. Your ticket then opens on its own private link.
Find your bookingWhat does the ticket show?
Your boarding point with its landmark and time, your seats and travellers, the PNR, the bus registration once the operator has shared it, and the refund you would get if you cancelled now. You can save it as a PDF or share its link.
How does the live link work?
Send the link from your ticket to whoever is picking you up. They see which stops the bus has crossed and, while its tracker is reporting, where it is. They need no app and no login.
Track a busWhat does the live link hide?
Who you are. It shows the bus, never the passenger: no name, no seat, no phone number, no PNR and no fare. It does show the stops where the booking gets on and off, and the part of the route between them. It stops working if the booking is cancelled.
Where exactly do I board?
Each boarding point is named, with a landmark where the operator gave one and the time the bus leaves it. A map link appears only where the stop is a real named place.
Can I change the date or time of my ticket?
Not on BusPlease. There is no reschedule option. You can cancel before the bus leaves, under the operator's rule, and book again.
Payment
Is payment live?
Not yet. BusPlease is a preview and takes no payment. A preview booking is marked as a preview and is not a ticket.
What does the bill show before I confirm?
The seat page shows the fare for each seat and the total before the confirm button. During the preview it says the total is not charged.
Which payment methods are accepted?
None yet, because no payment is taken during the preview. Payment methods will be listed here before real bookings open.
Who sets the fare?
The operator running the bus. The fare on the seat page is the operator's own fare for your boarding and drop points.
Cancellation and refunds
How do I cancel?
Open your ticket and cancel under "If you cancel", any time before the bus leaves. Your seats go back on sale straight away.
Find your bookingHow much do I get back?
The operator's cancellation rule decides it. Your ticket shows that rule in rupees, against real times, with the amount you would get back if you cancelled now, before you confirm.
Cancellations and refundsCan I cancel after the bus has left?
No. Once the bus has left, a booking can no longer be cancelled on BusPlease. If the operator has shared a phone number, it is on your ticket.
What happens when I cancel a preview booking?
Its seats go back on sale. Nothing was charged, so there is nothing to refund.
Does BusPlease add a cancellation fee?
No. BusPlease adds no cancellation fee on top of the operator's rule.
What works in the preview
BusPlease is a preview. You can try every step of a booking, but nothing is a real ticket and no payment is taken.
Works now
- Searching the cities listed operators serve
- Choosing seats, and boarding and drop points
- A preview booking with its ticket, PNR and QR code
- Cancelling, with the refund rule shown in rupees
- The live link, which plays a demo replay on demo trips
Not yet
- Real tickets
- Taking payment
- Changing the date or time of a booking
- Accounts and a login
How the live link works, and what it hides
Every ticket has a link you can send to whoever is picking you up. It opens a map of your leg of the trip: the stops the bus has crossed, the ones still to come, and, while the bus's tracker is reporting, where it is and when it last reported. A tracker that has gone quiet is shown as quiet, never as a moving bus.
The link shows the bus, never the passenger. It carries no name, seat, phone number or PNR, and it stops working if the booking is cancelled.
Watch the demo live link to see one. It is a demo trip, replayed from its timetable, not a real bus.
Reaching someone
The operator runs the bus, so they are the quickest help with the boarding point, timings, delays, luggage and refund decisions. When an operator shares a phone number, it is on your ticket.
For problems with BusPlease itself, such as a ticket that will not open, write to [email protected]. Include your PNR, but please do not send card or bank details.
