Cancellations and refunds
Last updated 12 Sep 2026
- Each trip follows its operator's cancellation rule. Your ticket shows that rule in rupees, against real times, before you cancel.
- Cancel from your ticket, any time before the bus leaves. Your seats go back on sale straight away.
- BusPlease keeps no cancellation fee of its own.
- During the preview nothing is charged, so there is nothing to refund.
How to cancel
- Open your ticket. If you do not have the link, use find your booking with your PNR and mobile number.
- Under "If you cancel", check the amount you would get back now.
- Confirm. For a paid booking we first send a code to the mobile number you booked with, so nobody else holding your ticket link can cancel it.
Once the bus has left, a booking can no longer be cancelled on BusPlease. If the operator has shared a phone number, it is on your ticket.
The rule that decides the refund
The operator running the trip sets the cancellation rule, and their rule governs every booking on that trip. Where an operator has not set its own rule, this standard rule applies:
| When you cancel | Refund | On a ₹1,240 booking |
|---|---|---|
| 24 hours or more before departure | 90% | ₹1,116 |
| 6 hours to 24 hours before departure | 50% | ₹620 |
| 2 hours to 6 hours before departure | 25% | ₹310 |
| Less than 2 hours before departure | 0% | No refund |
- Hours are counted to the bus's scheduled departure from the first stop on its route, the same time the operator uses. If you board further along the route, your ticket shows the exact deadlines for your booking.
- Refunds are rounded to the nearest rupee.
- BusPlease adds no cancellation fee on top of the operator's rule.
When the money comes back
Preview bookings. Nothing was charged, so nothing is refunded. Cancelling still releases the seats.
Paid bookings. The refund is worked out at the moment you cancel and recorded against your booking straight away. It is returned to the way you paid once the operator approves it, and your ticket shows whether it is waiting for approval or has been paid.
Refund timelines for paid bookings, and what happens if an operator cancels or changes a trip, will be published here before real bookings open.
Questions about a refund
The operator decides refunds for their trips, so contact them first, on the phone number on your ticket when they have shared one. For problems with cancelling on this site, see Help and the contact page.
