Before you leave

A little preparation. A calmer night.

Check your travel dates, boarding point and ticket before an overnight bus journey.

01

Check the date after midnight

A 00:30 departure is early in the selected calendar day. Check both the date and time at your boarding point. On a long journey, the bus may have started from its first stop on the previous day.

02

Find the actual boarding point

A city name is not a meeting point. Read the stand, landmark and reporting time on your ticket. If the address or map is unclear, confirm it with the operator before leaving. Allow time to reach the right entrance or pickup area.

03

Keep the essentials within reach

Save the ticket on your phone and check the operator's identification and baggage requirements. Keep your phone charged and pack the things you may need during the ride somewhere you can reach them without opening your main bag.

04

Give whoever is meeting you the right details

Share the drop point and arrival date, not just the city. A scheduled arrival is an estimate from the timetable. If tracking is available, check when its position last updated before using it to plan a pickup.
